چکیده

Abstract The study used data acquired by the ESG6 Blind Prediction Step BP1 Working Group for purposes of facilitating a comparison interpretation methods obtaining shear-wave velocity profiles (V s ) from array observations microtremor (passive seismic) noise. This work uses direct-fitting MMSPAC method and krSPAC on passive seismic supplied four seven-station nested triangular arrays with apertures ranging 1 to 962 m, located within Kumamoto City, Japan. allow useful frequency range 38 Hz down 0.3 Hz, giving depth sensitivities 2 m > 1000 m. Results are presented as seven-layer model which has time-averaged shear wave velocities top 30 300 V s30 = 189 m/s s300 584 m/s, respectively. HVSR spectra show two significant peaks at 1.2 0.35 indicative major contrasts depths 26 750 (and its variant) also proved viable one asymmetric where seven stations were corrupted incoherent low-frequency Indications lateral variation in could be detected due non-concentric geometry arrays, variations largest array. Further analysis step 4 blind trials, making use geological Preferred participants, showed apparent discrepancies between our upper 40 PS log appears inconsistent model. At low frequencies 0.5–2.5 dispersion suggest that Rayleigh effective mode is superior fundamental deducing Vs below 100 direct fitting observed SPAC enabled bandwidth 0.5–38 interpretation, wider than achieved other participants alone. soil liquefaction assessment of earthquake using the shear wave velocity (a case study in ardabil city)

1. introduction as the pressure of porous water increases in sand soils and saturated loose layers during an earthquake, the soil tendency to reduce its own volume leads to a decrease in the soil’s multifaceted tension. this way, the shear strength of the soil strongly decreases and comes close to zero. this phenomenon is called liquefaction. soil liquefaction is the cause of much destruction o...

Prediction model of limestone rock mass quality, using seismic wave velocity (Case study: Sarvak formation in Bakhtiari dam site)

The purpose of this study was to develop a model for the estimation of rock mass classification of Sarvak limestone in the Bakhtiari dam site, south-west (SW) Iran. Q system had been used as the starting point for the rock mass classification. This method was modified for sedimentary rock mass which is known as Qsrm. Because Qsrm considers a wide range of rock mass propert...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

a revised spatial autocorrelation method to study shear wave velocity

recordings of ambient noise or microtremors are increasingly used to find valuable information on soil in one dimension at a given site. ambient vibrations, which are assumed to be mainly composed of surface waves, can be used to determine the surface wave dispersion curve in order to retrieve shear wave velocity profile. in this regard, microtremors are usually recorded simultaneously in an ar...

Spectra of mantle shear wave velocity structure

We applied the stochastic method of Gudmundsson, Davies & Clayton (1990) (which was applied to ISC P-wave data) to teleseismic ISC S-wave data to obtain an independent estimate of mantle structure. We inverted the variance of S-wave traveltime residuals of bundles of rays to obtain a description of the spectrum of lateral heterogeneity as a function of depth through the mantle. The technique yi...
